Being in compliance pays off: what DURC is and why it makes a difference

✅ What is the DURC?

The DURC, which stands for Single Document of Regular Contribution, is a certificate stating that a company is up to date with its social security and insurance payments to:

  • INPS

  • INAIL

  • Construction Funds (per il settore delle costruzioni)

As of July 1, 2015, the DURC has become entirely digital. The document can be requested and downloaded online, is issued within 24/48 hours of the request, and currently has a duration of 120 days.

Apply for the DURC online directly from the INPS website:

What is the purpose of the DURC ?

The DURC is used to prove that the company meets its contribution obligations to social security and welfare agencies.
It is especially required for:

  • Public Procurement

  • Private Procurement

  • Building and plant works

  • Building permits

  • SOA Certifications

It is a key tool for ensuring transparency, legality and safety in labor relations and construction sites.

Who is obliged to have the DURC?

All enterprises operating in sectors such as:

  • Construction

  • Facilities and maintenance

  • Infrastructure and public works

  • Industrial cleaning

  • Contract services

Principals (i.e., those ordering work or services) can also request the contractor's DURC to protect themselves from liability.

⚠️ What happens if a company is not in compliance?

A negative DURC carries legal and operational risks for both the company and the principal. Specifically:

  • Inability to participate in tenders

  • Suspension of work in progress

  • Administrative penalties

  • Employer may be required to pay unpaid contributions, jointly and severally with the contractor

Being in compliance with the DURC is not only a legal duty, but a prerequisite for working with peace of mind.

Contributory regularity: a cost today, a guarantee tomorrow

Operating within the regulations places a greater economic burden on businesses, but the benefits are clear:

  • No risk of blockages or litigation

  • Increased trust from customers and PAs

  • Safety for workers

  • Transparent and professional corporate image

Our pride: 35 years in business and over 20 years of certified regularity

In 2026 our company will be 35 years in business.
This is a milestone that we want to celebrate with pride, because in more than 20 years of DURC we have always demonstrated our regularity and unwavering commitment to compliance.

In an often complex and competitive industry, we have chosen the path of seriousness, transparency and legality.
And this has allowed us to stand out over time, consolidating trusting relationships with clients, suppliers and collaborators.

Value for our customers

Those who work with us are assured of:

  • Cooperate with a firm in good standing

  • Do not take joint and several liability risks

  • Support an ethical and sustainable work model

The DURC, for us, is not just a document: it is a concrete testimony to the way we do business.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the DURC and what is it for?
The DURC is a document that certifies a company's regularity of contributions to INPS, INAIL and the Construction Funds. It is used to participate in public and private works and to prove legality and fairness.

Who can apply for it and where is it obtained?
It can be requested by companies, principals and contracting stations. It is requested free of charge online at the INPS portal, which generally responds within 24-48 hours of the online request.

What happens if an enterprise has an irregular DURC?
The company risks penalties, exclusion from contracts, work suspensions, and, for the client (= the person who orders work or services), joint and several contributory responsibilities; that is, in simple words, the person who has entrusted the work to a company that is not in good standing may have to pay contributions along with the company itself. In practice, there are consequences for both those who perform the work and those who commissioned it.

Is it mandatory in all areas?
It is mandatory for construction, public works and all activities involving procurement ( including the textile sector). In many other cases it is still required as a guarantee; for example, in our industry it became mandatory in 2015, while in construction it had been mandatory for some time.

Is being in compliance also a benefit to the client?
Yes. The client avoids legal risks, supports regular work, and relies on a serious and responsible company.

So the question is: Are you compliant?

We are!

Since 2017, when DURC became mandatory in our sector, our company has always been compliant, always.
It has not been an easy journey: there have been years of great sacrifice, periods when everything went more “smoothly” and others when we had to face significant challenges, but our DURC has never been irregular and the contributions of our employees and partners have always been paid correctly and on time.

In recent months, the issue of contribution regularity and workers' contractual conditions has returned to the centre of public attention, partly due to important judicial investigations into Italian production chains. In particular, the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office has requested documents on governance and internal controls relating to the production chain of thirteen major luxury fashion brands, as part of investigations into cases of alleged exploitation of subcontracted workers.

This is because in many industrial supply chains (not only in our sector), exploitation can become a structural mechanism when production is outsourced to subcontractors who, in order to cut costs, reduce the contractual and social security protection of workers. In this context, our choice to always comply with the rules is not a mere formality: it is an ethical and practical value that reflects our interpretation of the company as a safe, fair and dignified working environment, where we strive to enhance value through constant updates and where workers' rights are respected every day.
